Practical tools for measured work
Golf Simulator Projector & Screen Calculator
Fit an aspect-correct impact-screen image inside clear room dimensions and calculate the projector lens throw range.
Image size is limited by the usable wall after margins. Throw distances are lens-to-screen values; projector body depth and mounting clearance are extra.
How it works
How to use it: enter clear room dimensions, protected screen margins, desired aspect ratio, projector throw range and tee distance.
Method. The largest aspect-correct image is fit inside the usable wall, then image width is multiplied by each throw-ratio endpoint.
Example. A 3.9 m-wide image with a 0.8 throw ratio needs at least 3.12 m from lens to screen.
Current-input example
The result above uses these exact values. This snapshot is included when the page is printed so the output can be checked against the original measurements.
- Room width
- 4.5 m
- Room height
- 3 m
- Room depth
- 6 m
- Side margin each
- 0.3 m
- Top/bottom margin
- 0.25 m
- Image aspect width
- 16
- Image aspect height
- 10
- Minimum throw ratio
- 0.8
- Maximum throw ratio
- 1.2
- Tee to screen
- 3 m
Primary result: Maximum image: 3.90 x 2.44 m.
Before using the result
- Measure from the datum or reference edge described by this tool, and do not mix inside, outside and centerline dimensions.
- Keep inputs in the displayed units and preserve more precision than the final cutting or purchasing tolerance requires.
- When the result is close to a limit, verify it with a test piece, field measurement, manufacturer drawing or qualified project professional.
Limitations
This is not a safety clearance standard. Swing envelope, golfer handedness, ceiling fixtures, impact-screen deflection, enclosure depth, projector shadows, launch-monitor requirements and emergency access must be checked physically.
Frequently asked questions
Does room depth equal throw distance?
No. Throw distance runs from lens to screen. Allow space for the projector body, cables, screen structure and any rear access.
