How it works
Use actual fitting dimensions. Measure the target span, choose where that measurement starts and ends, then enter each fitting's center-to-end takeoff. Center-to-center deducts both fittings; center-to-end deducts fitting A; end-to-end deducts neither.
Example. A 1,200 mm center-to-center spool with two 76 mm elbows needs 1,200 − 76 − 76 = 1,048 mm of straight pipe before any joining allowance.

- Keep inputs in the displayed units and preserve more precision than the final cutting or purchasing tolerance requires.
- When the result is close to a limit, verify it with a test piece, field measurement, manufacturer drawing or qualified project professional.
Limitations
This is standard-neutral cut arithmetic, not a fitting database. Takeoffs change with nominal size, schedule, radius, end preparation, manufacturer, socket depth, thread engagement and weld gap. Confirm those values before cutting.
Frequently asked questions
Why is the allowance signed?
Different joining methods require different treatment. A positive number lengthens the raw cut for insertion or makeup; a negative number shortens it for a specified gap or later trim.
