How it works
Pattern geometry: waist seam-line radius = waist circumference ÷ sector angle in radians. A full circle uses 2π, a half circle π and a quarter circle π/2.
Allowances: the waist cut line moves inward by the waist seam allowance. The hem cut line sits at seam-line radius + finished length + hem allowance. The blue curve marks the waist seam line.
Printing: download the tiled PDF, print without scaling, join matching page rows and columns, and measure both calibration checks before cutting fabric.

- Keep inputs in the displayed units and preserve more precision than the final cutting or purchasing tolerance requires.
- When the result is close to a limit, verify it with a test piece, field measurement, manufacturer drawing or qualified project professional.
Limitations
This drafts one geometric sector, not a fabric-yardage or multi-panel cutting plan. It excludes waistband construction, closures, elastic reduction, stretch, drape, seam finishing and radial side-seam allowances. Confirm the pattern fits the fabric width and make a muslin or test waistband before cutting valuable fabric.
Frequently asked questions
Does the waist measurement include ease?
Enter the seam-line circumference you want the garment to have. Add wearing ease first for a fitted waistband, or use the measurement required by your elastic or closure method.
Why is side-seam allowance excluded?
The number and placement of radial seams depends on how you split and place the pattern on your fabric. Add seam allowance to every radial edge that will be sewn after choosing that layout.
